Pangea Day May 10

Join in with the whole world! Come Celebrate Pangea Day at Arena Theater, Saturday May 10th, 11am to 3pm. Pangea Day is a global event bringing the world together in real time through film. Twenty-four inspiring short films from all over the world, plus live music and visionary speakers will be live fed in seven languages to millions of people worldwide. Among the speakers and performers: Queen Noor of Jordan, CNN's Christiane Amanpour, musician/activist Bob Geldof and Iranian rock phenom Hypernova. Free to our Redwood Coast community. Mendocino Music Festival Volunteers

Mendocino Music Festival (July 12-26) sign-ups for volunteers will take place on Saturday, May 17th, from 12:00 to 3:00 at the Mendocino Recreation Center, corner of School and Pine Streets in the village of Mendocino. There are many opportunities to help, in trade for tickets to performances. Volunteers are needed to sell programs, cookies and beverages; to usher and to collect tickets; to paint the stage and seating platforms; to set up chairs; and to help clean the site post Festival. Basic carpentry, electrical, painting or heavy labor skills are also useful. For more information call (707) 937-0405.

Quilt Show in Fort Bragg

Stanford Author to Speak

Award winning prose writer Valerie Miner will speak on Firday, April 18 at 7pm at the Mendocio Hotel Conference Room on Albion St., Mendocino. Miner's new novel "After Eden" is published in "Literature of The American West" series by the University of Oklahoma Press and is set in Mendocno County. This event is free to the public. The following morning Miner will offer a writers' workshop on "Finding Shapes of Our Stories," at College of The Redwoods Fort Bragg Campus at 10am in room 300. For more info call 962-2167.

The Mendocino Cost Writers Conference, together with Mendo Bistro in Fort Bragg, welcome you to an evening of food, friends and writing on Friday April 25 from 5 to 9pm to benefit the scholarship fund for Mendocino County youth. Noyo Food Forest

The Noyo Food Forest is calling all locals to get involved in the Real Food Revolution. A healthy local food system is essential to a community's well-being and it takes people power to make it happen. Get didrty and make new friends at your local community gardens. On Fridays go to the Learning Garden at Fort Bragg High School from 1 to 5pm, for hands-on learning experiences. On Saturdays, you can grow food for the Food Bank at the Mendocino Community Garden next to the Rec Center from 10:30am to 2pm. For more info call 964-0218.

February 24th is the date for the next 4th Sunday Fund Raising Breakfast in Caspar. Breakfast is served from 9 to 11:30am inside the old Caspar School House that is now the Caspar Community Center. The country gourmet food at this month's breakfast will be Red Flannel Hash - organic potatos, sweet potatos, beet and bacon hash served with two over easy eggs and fresh baked bread or buttermilk biscuits, Spinach Souffle
- served with wild rice pilaf and bread or buttermilk biscuits, Tropical waffles, Roasted vegetables and wild rice pilaf a vegan, gluten free option, Blueberry crumb coffeecake & Spiced apple cider, tea and Thanksgiving coffee. The regular book sale will happen during and after breakfast featuring high quality used books for children and adults in the south room of the center. The breakfast is proud to serve locally produced, organic and delicious food in a friendly atmosphere with community. The non-profit Community Center is located 1/2 way between Mendocino and Ft. Area Horseback Attraction Televised

One of our favorite Mendocino Coast attractions, Ricochet Ridge Horseback Riding, will be featured in a half hour speical on the national TV show, "America on Horseback." With seven million viewers each episode, host Tom Seary produces the most popular equestrian-orineted show in the country. Owner Lari Shea and several other riders have been filmed at local venues and thier trek includes stops at Greenwood Ridge Vineyards, Montgomery Woods State Park, Hill House Inn, and many other locations. Victoian High Tea

A Victorian High Tea is scheduled again this year on the Sunday before Valentines Day to benefit Books for Babies. The tea will be held at Trinity Lutheran Hall, 630 Redwood Ave., Fort Bragg on Feb. 10 from 2 to 4 pm. Members of Thrivent Financial and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International are presenting scones with lemon curd, fruit salad, a variety of sandwiches and chess tarts wtih the tea.
